Look up any ship's EU emissions and its EU ETS figure

Search by IMO number, ship name or company. We read the European Commission's published EU MRV reports for every year from 2018 to 2025 and show the CO₂ each ship reported, how much of it falls under the EU Emissions Trading System, and the indicative allowances to surrender, using the same verified rules as our compliance platform.

How the figures are made

Published numbers first, our arithmetic labelled

Every ship figure on this page is copied from the Commission's EU MRV publication, which holds each company's emissions report as confirmed by an accredited verifier. Where we calculate something, we say so, and the constants come from Navallogic's rules engine, where each one is traced to the regulation.

01 · PUBLISHED

CO₂ on EU-related voyages

EU MRV covers voyages into, out of and between EU and EEA ports, and time in those ports. It is not the ship's global emissions. We show the total and the four parts the regulation splits it into, exactly as published.

02 · PUBLISHED

Emissions reported for the EU ETS

From 2024 the file carries each ship's "CO₂ emissions to be reported under Directive 2003/87/EC": 100% of voyages between EU ports and of emissions within EU ports, 50% of voyages into or out of the EU, after any derogation the company claims. We show it as published. When a ship changed company during the year, the year is split into several reports, and we add their published figures together.

03 · OUR CALCULATION

Indicative allowances

Allowances for shipping are phased in: 40% of 2024 emissions, 70% of 2025 and 100% from 2026 (Directive 2003/87/EC, Art. 3gb). For most ships the published figure is before this phase-in, so we apply it. If a ship's figure already sits at the phase-in share, we say so and do not apply it twice. Allowances for a year are surrendered by 30 September of the next year (Art. 12(3)).

04 · OUR CALCULATION

Indicative cost and the 2026 outlook

Cost is allowances times the EUA price you enter. It starts at our planning default, which is not a market price. The 2026 outlook asks one question: if the ship's EU activity in 2026 matched 2025, what would it owe once the share reaches 100% and methane and nitrous oxide count? It is a scenario, not a forecast.

What this page does not show

Where the public data stops

  • No CII ratingThe IMO CII uses a ship's worldwide fuel and distance and its deadweight or gross tonnage. The EU file covers EU-related voyages only and has no tonnage, so any rating from it would be wrong.
  • No FuelEU balanceFuelEU Maritime needs the energy of each fuel and its well-to-wake factor. The file gives total fuel only, so we do not estimate it.
  • No company obligationA company's EU ETS obligation is aggregated and verified for all its ships and periods. Our company totals add up the per-ship indicative figures in the file; they are not the verified obligation.

Size limits: before 2025, EU MRV covered only ships of 5,000 GT and above. From 2025 it also covers general cargo and offshore ships of 400 to 4,999 GT, which are not in the EU ETS, and offshore ships of 5,000 GT and above, which join the EU ETS on 1 January 2027. The file does not state gross tonnage, so for those ship types we say what we can infer and why.
